2The signs also have conditions particular to them: Aries has, of the members, the head, the face, the pupil of the eye and the two ears; and it has, of the colours, yellow and moderate red; and it has, of the tastes, bitterness; and it has, of places, deserts, the places of fires and the haunts of thieves; and it has, of the minerals, what is worked with fire; and of the animals, every four-footed one that has a cloven hoof.

3And Taurus has, of the members, the neck, the Adam's apple and the larynx; and it has, of the colours, green and white mixed together; and it has, of the tastes, sourness; and it has, of places, every inhabited land, the places of ploughing and gardens; and it has, of the plants, tall trees whose fruit is eaten and which do without water, and every tree of pleasant taste and scent; and it has, of the animals, every four-footed one that has a cloven hoof.

4And Gemini has, of the members, the two shoulders, the two upper arms, the two hands and the two shoulder-blades; and of the colours, green mixed with yellow; and of the tastes, sweetness; and of places, mountains, the places of hunting, and what is ploughed of the earth; and of the plants, tall trees; and of the animals, humankind, apes, water-birds, and every bird of wondrous note and beautiful song.

5And Cancer has, of the members, the chest, the two breasts, the stomach, the spleen, the lung, the ribs and the hidden places of the chest; and it has, of the colours, white and smoky dun; and of the tastes, saltiness; and of places, reed-thickets, hills, groves, coasts, river-banks and the places of trees; and of the gems, the gems of the water; and of plants, trees of moderate height and water plants; and of animals, water animals, small fish, snakes, scorpions, vermin and the creeping things of the earth.

6Leo: to it belong, of the members, the upper stomach, the chest, the heart, the right side, the gums, the back, the ribs, the vertebrae of the back and its flesh; and to it belong, of colours, redness, yellowness and tawniness; and to it belongs, of tastes, bitterness; and to it belong, of places, deserts, places hard of passage, the seats of kings, impregnable fortresses and pleasing places [reading uncertain]; and to it belong, of gems, the ruby, the diamond, the bazādī stone [word uncertain] and precious stones; and to it belongs, of minerals, gold; and of plants, tall trees; and of animals, every beast of prey with fang and claw and every bird of prey with talon.

7Virgo: to it belong, of the members, the belly and the hidden places in it, such as the gut, the diaphragm and the intestines, and what is below them down to the private parts, and the left side; and to it belong, of colours, whiteness, purple and dust colour; and to it belong, of tastes, tartness and astringency; and to it belong, of places, every land in which sowing is done, and the dwellings of women, of entertainers and of singers; and of plants, those of them that bear seed; and of animals, humans and birds, and especially water birds.

8Libra: to it belong, of the members, the lower back, the two hips, the two buttocks, the flank, the navel, the private parts and the lower belly; and to it belong, of colours, greenness, dust colour and violet; and to it belongs, of tastes, sweetness; and to it belong, of places, wastelands, deserts, pasture land, hunting grounds and every high, overlooking place; and of plants, tall trees; and of animals, humans and every bird with a large head.

9Scorpio: to it belong, of the members, the male organs, the testicles, the anus, the bladder, the testes, the rump and the private parts of women; and to it belong, of colours, redness and dust colour; and of tastes, saltiness; and of places, the sites of vineyards, every filthy place, prisons and the holes of scorpions; and of gems, coral and the gems of the water; and of plants, trees of moderate height; and of animals, scorpions, snakes, vermin, the creeping things of the earth and water animals.

10Sagittarius: to it belong, of the members, the thigh, the two shanks, marks and excrescences on the members, such as an extra finger and an extra member; and to it belong, of colours, every tawny [colour] inclining to red, every dusty and every piebald; and to it belongs, of tastes, bitterness; and of places, gardens, the places of riding beasts and of fires; and of stones, emerald and what resembles it; and of minerals, tin; and of animals, humans, the horse, birds, snakes and the creeping things of the earth.

11Capricorn: to it belong, of the members, the two knees and their sinews, the lower part of the thighs and the heel; and to it belong, of colours, peacock colour, kohl colour, and whatever inclines to dust colour and black and the like; and of tastes, the astringent and the tart; and of places, palaces, gardens, deep cisterns, the banks of rivers, places of pasture, the dwellings of strangers and of slaves, and the places where fires that have died down were kindled;

12and of plants, every nourishing tree, such as the olive, the walnut, the oak and what resembles them, and every swaying plant that grows in water, such as reeds and papyrus, and those water plants that have thorns; and of animals, every four-footed [animal] that has a cloven hoof, and some water animals, and the creeping things of the earth and its vermin.

13Aquarius: to it belong, of the members, the two shanks down to below the ankles, and their sinews

14To it belong, of colours, greenness, duskiness, dust-colour and yellowness; to it belongs, of tastes, sweetness; to it belong, of places, the places of running waters and the seas and the places in which wine is sold; to it belong, of substances, glass and what resembles it; of plants, tall trees; and of animals, humankind and every animal ugly in form and hideous in appearance, such as what is designated as jinn and devils among the spirits.

15And Pisces: to it belong, of the members, the two feet, their extremities and their sinews; of colours, greenness and whiteness and every colour of much variegation; of tastes, sourness; of places, places of worship, the banks of rivers, the lakes, the thickets and the shores of the seas; of substances, pearls, white yāqūt, shells, rock crystal and all the substances of water; of plants, trees of moderate height and the plants of water; and of animals, the birds of water and its animals.

16These, then, are the conditions that are particular to the planets and the signs, and the need for them is pressing.
